Czech this out! - The First Evening!

Kylee and I arrived in Prague safe and sound! We met a lovely girl in the shuttle on the way to our hostel. She was nice.

Kylee and I ate sushi at this really nice and very cheap place near our hostel. It became a major feature of our time in prague! It was so good! MMM.... green rolls.

We also got lost in the ghetto. That was less ideal. But hey, adventure right?

Czech This Out! - Getting there!

Our adventure in the Czech Republic began long before we even got there.

I was lucky enough to travel with Kylee (another one of the student missionaries) and our lovely Principle Holgar and his incredible wife Elsabeth. Holgar and Elsabeth are the best! We all travelled together as far as Hamburg. Holgar and Elsabeth have a daughter who lives in Singapore, and were off to the tropical weather to spend Easter with their daughter and her family. Kylee and I flew out of Hamburg early the next morning. We left the school and drove about 3 and a half hours to the airport.

The delicious assortment of road trip snacks that Elsabeth ever so kindly organised for us.
It was ALL GLUTEN FREE!!! She is the most considerate and loving woman! We are so blessed to work with her!
The toasty hot chocolate we had ready for us!
Kylee and I, the Back seat Bandits! Both with our matching hot chocolates!
This is a lollie pizza we found in Hamburg Airport after we separated from Holgar and Elsabeth. It was the same size as a regular pizza!
We searched high and low for Caitlin or Kylee, but sadly, all we found was Dirk and Lothar.
Evidently, we need more common names!
I will allow the next video explain this one!
This lovely woman could see that Kylee and I were dying with curiosity about what the poor sod in the poncho was doing. She was kind enough to explain it all for us! To 'free him' as she mentions near the end of the video, he must be kissed by a young woman! Until he is 'freed' he has to do which ever task his friends and family set for him! In his case, pick up beer bottle caps and sand. Luckily for this guy, a girl passing by gave him a kiss on the cheek and he was able to change out of the embarrassing clothes and his friends helped him clean up! I for one and a little bummed we don't have this tradition in Australia!
This is Kylee catching a little bit of shut eye at about 3 am. Kylee and I had arranged for accommodation for the night we were to be in Hamburg, however, the plans fell through, and we spent the night at the airport. We waited about 19 hours starting from when we arrived at the airport and ending when we boarded the plane.

Luckily for us, we weren't the only ones staying the night at the airport. We befriended three hilarious young British soldiers. They live and work in Germany with the British Army, and had missed their plane. They were good company! We played cards with them (Phase 10!) until 3 am. They were lovely gents, however, they were incredibly hard to understand. Their accents were so heavy that Kylee and I had some serious difficulty understanding some of what they said. It all just added to the ridiculous humour of it all. George, Alistair and Ashley made our night a little less rough!

All set and ready to board out little plane to Prague! I had had literally about 5 minutes sleep at this point. Kylee had about 2 hours. We were fortunate enough to be able to buy some coffee at a little cafe in the airport. It lifted our spirits a lot! So exciting knowing we were heading to Prague!
Our puny little GermanWings plane! It did the job! You can see Kylee is a little bit excited to get there!
Like I said, excited hehe

Want to know what happened after we arrived!?

Sorry. You will have to wait until the next blog post.
